Twenty-four Glory Bes, one for each year of St. Thérèse of Lisieux's short life, offered in thanksgiving to the Blessed Trinity for the graces given her and asking her intercession in a present need.
Background
A private devotion begun by a Jesuit priest, Father Putigan, who started the novena of the twenty-four Glory Bes on 3 December 1925. It is usually prayed as a novena of nine days, but the twenty-four Glory Bes may also be prayed on a single day as a chaplet. Nothing about it belongs to the liturgy; the Church honours St. Thérèse publicly in the Mass and Office of her memorial on 1 October.
How to practice
Pray the Glory Be twenty-four times, thanking the Blessed Trinity for the favours and graces given to St. Thérèse during the twenty-four years of her life on earth. After each Glory Be add the invocation 'Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, pray for us.' Name your intention at the beginning and entrust it to her intercession at the end. Prayed on nine successive days, the same twenty-four Glory Bes form the well-known novena.
