Devotion to the Precious Blood, ancient in the Church and promoted by Saint Gaspar del Bufalo, is celebrated especially in the month of July; the chaplet recalls the seven principal sheddings of Christ's Blood.

Pray seven Our Fathers in memory of the seven sheddings of the Blood of Christ — the Circumcision, the Agony in the Garden, the scourging, the crowning with thorns, the carrying of the Cross, the Crucifixion, and the piercing of his side — with a closing prayer of thanksgiving and reparation.
