Devotion
Little Crown of the Infant Jesus
Devotion to Christ · 10 min
A chaplet of fifteen beads honouring the hidden childhood of the Word made flesh: three Our Fathers for the Holy Family and twelve Hail Marys for the twelve years of the Holy Childhood.
Background
A private devotion received by Venerable Margaret of the Blessed Sacrament, a Carmelite of the Carmel of Beaune who died in 1648, and closely bound up with devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague. It is prayed in homes and shrines; it has no liturgical standing, and the Church's own celebration of the Lord's infancy is the Christmas season.
How to practice
Take the chaplet of fifteen beads. On the first three beads pray one Our Father each, in honour of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. On the remaining twelve beads pray a Hail Mary each, in honour of the twelve years of the childhood of Christ, letting the hidden years at Nazareth be the subject of your meditation. Close with a prayer to the Infant Jesus for the grace of simplicity and trust.
