Fostered especially by the Servite Order, the devotion of the Seven Sorrows is honored in the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows (September 15) and in the Stabat Mater hymn.

Meditate prayerfully on the Seven Sorrows — the prophecy of Simeon, the flight into Egypt, the loss of the Child Jesus, the meeting on the way to Calvary, the Crucifixion, the taking down from the Cross, and the burial — praying a Hail Mary after each, often with the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows.
