Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord
Solemnity · movable · Easter season
The glorious ascension of the risen Christ into heaven forty days after Easter.
Celebrated forty days after Easter (on Thursday, or transferred to the Seventh Sunday of Easter in many places), the Ascension commemorates Christ taking his place at the right hand of the Father and his promise to send the Holy Spirit, completing the work of redemption.
