Adoration of the wounded Heart of Christ as the symbol and source of his redeeming love.
Celebrated on the Friday after the Second Sunday after Pentecost. Established as a universal feast by Pope Pius IX in 1856. Pope Pius XI raised it to a Solemnity in 1928.
