Between November 1932 and January 1933 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared thirty-three times to five children at Beauraing, showing her golden heart and calling for prayer and trust, identifying herself as the Immaculate Virgin and Mother of God.

The apparitions were approved by the Bishop of Namur in 1949. Our Lady of Beauraing is invoked as 'Our Lady with the Golden Heart,' and the shrine draws pilgrims from across Europe.
