In October 1859 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Adele Brise near Champion, Wisconsin, asking her to pray for the conversion of sinners and to teach the children of the region their catechism.

In 2010 Bishop David Ricken of Green Bay declared the apparitions worthy of belief — the first and only approved Marian apparition in the United States. The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help is a national shrine.
