Mary venerated under the title revealed in 1830 through the medal she requested of Saint Catherine Labouré.
origin
In 1830 the Blessed Virgin appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré in the Rue du Bac in Paris and asked that a medal be struck bearing the invocation, 'O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.'
theological Significance
The medal, soon called 'miraculous' for the graces attached to it, proclaims the Immaculate Conception and Mary's mediation of grace.
