In 1061 a noblewoman, Richeldis de Faverches, is said to have been shown the house of Nazareth in a vision and to have built its replica at Walsingham, which became one of medieval Europe's foremost pilgrimage shrines and was restored in modern times.
theological Significance
Under this title Mary is honored as the Virgin of the Annunciation, calling England and all the faithful to renew their 'yes' to God in imitation of her.
