Collect of the First Sunday of Lent (Deus, qui Ecclesiam tuam annua quadragesimali observatione purificas)
O God, who dost every year purify Thy Church by the Fast of Forty Days: grant unto this Thy family that what things they strive to obtain at Thy hand by abstinence, they may turn to profit by good works. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, etc. Amen.
