Liturgical
Episcopal Blessing
Catholic prayer · Latin text
The solemn form of blessing used by bishops in place of the simple priestly blessing, with its three versicles and the triple sign of the cross. The faithful answer Amen. The English is EWTN's, which still gives the superseded 1973 ICEL response “And also with you”; since 2011 the response at Mass is “And with your spirit”, as the Latin Et cum spiritu tuo has always read.
V. The Lord be with you. / R. And also with you. V. Blessed be the name of the Lord. / R. Both now and forever. V. Our help is in the name of the Lord. / R. Who made heaven and earth. V. May almighty God bless you, + the Father, + and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
