The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary
Rosary prayer
The first series of the Rosary's twenty mysteries, contemplating the Incarnation and the hidden life of Jesus. The titles and scripture references are those given on the Vatican's Rosary pages, which assign these mysteries to Mondays and Saturdays following Saint John Paul II's Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae; the further custom of praying them on the Sundays of Advent and Christmas is as EWTN prints it.
Prayed on Mondays and Saturdays, and on the Sundays of Advent and Christmas. First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation (Lk 1:26-27) Second Joyful Mystery: The Visitation (Lk 1:39-42) Third Joyful Mystery: The Birth of Our Lord (Lk 2:1-7) Fourth Joyful Mystery: The Presentation in the Temple (Lk 2:21-24) Fifth Joyful Mystery: The Finding of Jesus in the Temple (Lk 2:41-47) At the beginning of each decade, announce the mystery to be contemplated. After a short pause for reflection, recite the Our Father, ten Hail Marys and the Glory be to the Father.
