The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary
Rosary prayer
The mysteries of the Passion and death of Christ. The titles and scripture references are those given on the Vatican's Rosary pages, which assign these mysteries to Tuesdays and Fridays; the further custom of praying them on the Sundays of Lent is as EWTN prints it.
Prayed on Tuesdays and Fridays, and on the Sundays of Lent. First Sorrowful Mystery: The agony in the Garden (Mt 26:36-39) Second Sorrowful Mystery: The scourging at the pillar (Mt 27:26) Third Sorrowful Mystery: The crowning with thorns (Mt 27:27-29) Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: The carrying of the cross (Mk 15:21-22) Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The crucifixion (Lk 23:33-46) At the beginning of each decade, announce the mystery to be contemplated. After a short pause for reflection, recite the Our Father, ten Hail Marys and the Glory be to the Father.
