biography
Saint Adalbert (c. 956-997), Bishop of Prague, twice left his see in the face of opposition to preach the Gospel among the pagan peoples of central Europe. He was martyred while evangelizing the Prussians on the Baltic. A patron of Bohemia and Poland, he stands among the great missionary bishops of his age.
