biography
Saint Andrew, brother of Simon Peter and a fisherman of Bethsaida, was the first-called of the Apostles. After Pentecost he preached in Greece and Asia Minor and was martyred at Patras on an X-shaped cross, which bears his name. He is the patron of Scotland, Greece, and Russia.
