Saint Anne, honored by ancient tradition as the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus, is venerated together with her husband Saint Joachim. Though not named in the Scriptures, their memory has been cherished since the early Church. Saint Anne is the beloved patron of mothers and grandmothers, invoked especially by those longing for children.
