Saint Bernadette Soubirous (1844-1879) was the humble French girl to whom the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared eighteen times at Lourdes in 1858, identifying herself as the Immaculate Conception. She later became a Sister of Charity at Nevers, where she died; her body remains incorrupt.
