biography
Saint Bonaventure (c. 1217-1274), the 'Seraphic Doctor,' was a Franciscan theologian, minister general of his order, and cardinal. A friend of Saint Thomas Aquinas, he united deep learning with mystical devotion in works such as The Journey of the Mind to God and his life of Saint Francis. He helped reconcile the Greeks at the Council of Lyon, where he died.
