Saint Charbel Makhlouf (1828-1898) was a Maronite monk and priest of Lebanon who lived as a hermit for twenty-three years in silence, fasting, and unceasing prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Since his death his tomb has been the site of innumerable healings, and he is one of the most beloved saints of the Eastern Catholic Churches.
