Saint Charles Borromeo (1538-1584), Cardinal Archbishop of Milan, was a leading reformer who implemented the Council of Trent, founded seminaries, promoted catechesis, and served his people heroically during the plague of 1576. Canonized in 1610, he is a patron of bishops and catechists.
