Biography
Saint Elizabeth of Hungary (1207-1231), a princess and wife of the Landgrave of Thuringia, devoted herself after her husband's death to Franciscan poverty and the care of the sick and the poor, founding a hospital where she served personally. She was canonized in 1235.
