Saint Francis de Sales (1567-1622), Bishop of Geneva and Doctor of the Church, won back many to the faith by his patience and gentleness. With Saint Jane Frances de Chantal he founded the Visitation Order, and his Introduction to the Devout Life taught that holiness is for every state of life. He is the patron of writers and the Catholic press.
