Saint Gianna Beretta Molla (1922-1962) was an Italian pediatrician, wife, and mother who, during her fourth pregnancy, refused procedures that would have ended her child's life and died shortly after the birth. Canonized in 2004, she is a patron of mothers, physicians, and the unborn.
