biography
Saint Ignatius (c. 35-c. 108), bishop of Antioch and a disciple of the Apostles, was condemned to the beasts at Rome under the Emperor Trajan. On the journey to martyrdom he wrote seven letters that are among the earliest witnesses to the Eucharist, the episcopacy, and the unity of the Church.
