Saint Irenaeus (c. 130-202), Bishop of Lyon and Doctor of the Church, was a disciple of Saint Polycarp and a great defender of the faith against Gnosticism. His work Against Heresies upholds apostolic tradition and the rule of faith. Named 'Doctor of Unity' by Pope Francis in 2022, he taught that 'the glory of God is man fully alive.'
