biography
Saint James, son of Zebedee and brother of John, was one of the three apostles closest to Jesus. He was the first apostle to be martyred, beheaded by Herod Agrippa around AD 44 (Acts 12). His shrine at Santiago de Compostela in Spain has drawn pilgrims for over a thousand years.
