Saint John Bosco (1815-1888), known as Don Bosco, devoted his life to poor and abandoned boys in Turin, founding the Salesians and, with Saint Mary Mazzarello, the Salesian Sisters. His 'preventive system' of education rested on reason, religion, and loving-kindness.
