Saint John of Capistrano (1386-1456), a lawyer turned Franciscan friar, was a tireless preacher of reform across Europe and, at nearly seventy, helped rally the Christian forces that lifted the siege of Belgrade in 1456. He is a patron of jurists and military chaplains.
