Biography
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha (1656-1680), the 'Lily of the Mohawks,' was a Mohawk-Algonquin woman of present-day New York who embraced the Catholic faith and consecrated her virginity to Christ amid great opposition. Canonized in 2012, she is the first Native American saint.
