biography
Saint Katharine Drexel (1858-1955), heiress of a wealthy Philadelphia family, gave her fortune to found the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and to establish schools and missions for Native Americans and African Americans, including Xavier University in New Orleans. She was canonized in 2000.
