biography
Saint Louis IX (1214-1270), King of France, governed with justice and charity, building hospitals, feeding the poor at his own table, and reforming the law. A devoted husband and father of eleven and a Franciscan tertiary, he led two crusades and died of plague near Tunis. He is the patron of France.
