biography
Saint Marianne Cope (1838-1918) was a German-born Franciscan sister and hospital administrator in New York who answered a call to serve in Hawaii. For thirty years she cared for those afflicted with leprosy on Molokai, continuing the work of Saint Damien, and not one of her sisters contracted the disease. She was canonized in 2012.
