saint-martin-of-tours
A saint of the Catholic Church
biography
Saint Martin of Tours (316-397) was a Roman soldier who, as a catechumen, famously cut his cloak in two to clothe a freezing beggar and that night saw Christ wearing the half he had given. He became a monk and then Bishop of Tours, a tireless evangelist of the Gaulish countryside and one of the first non-martyrs venerated as a saint.
