Saint Paschal Baylon (1540-1592), a Spanish Franciscan lay brother and former shepherd, was filled with such ardent love for the Holy Eucharist that he spent hours in adoration. Declared patron of Eucharistic congresses and confraternities, he is a model of devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.
