biography
Saints Perpetua, a young noblewoman, and Felicity, her slave, were martyred together at Carthage in AD 203 during the persecution of Septimius Severus. Perpetua's prison diary is one of the earliest Christian texts written by a woman; their names are included in the Roman Canon of the Mass.
