biography
Saint Polycarp (c. 69-c. 155), bishop of Smyrna, was a disciple of Saint John the Apostle and a link between the apostolic age and the early Fathers. Arrested in old age, he refused to renounce Christ, saying, 'Eighty-six years I have served him, and he has done me no wrong,' and was burned at the stake.
