Saint Pope Pius X (1835-1914) is remembered for encouraging frequent and early reception of Holy Communion, reforming the sacred liturgy and Church music, and defending the faith against modernism. Of humble origins and pastoral heart, he sought 'to restore all things in Christ' and was canonized in 1954.
