saint-romuald
A saint of the Catholic Church
biography
Saint Romuald (c. 951-1027) founded the Camaldolese Benedictines, uniting the communal Benedictine life with the solitude of the hermitage. After a youthful conversion he spent decades reforming monasteries and establishing hermitages across Italy, most famously at Camaldoli, leaving a brief 'rule' that is a jewel of contemplative wisdom.
