Biography
Saint Scholastica (c. 480-543) was the twin sister of Saint Benedict of Nursia and is regarded as the first Benedictine nun. She founded a community of women near Monte Cassino and met her brother once a year for holy conversation. Saint Gregory the Great recounts that at their last meeting she obtained by prayer a storm that kept Benedict with her, and she died three days later.
