Saint Thomas, called Didymus, at first doubted the Resurrection but then confessed the risen Christ as 'My Lord and my God' (John 20:28). Tradition holds that he carried the Gospel to India, where the Saint Thomas Christians revere him as their founder, and was martyred near Chennai.
