Saint Veronica Giuliani (1660-1727), a Capuchin Poor Clare abbess, was a great mystic who received the stigmata and lived in profound union with the Passion of Christ. At her superiors' command she recorded her spiritual experiences in a vast diary, a treasure of Catholic mysticism, while governing her community with practical wisdom.
