SPIRITUAL_PRACTICE
Mental Prayer (Meditation)
A practice of the spiritual life
Interior prayer in which the mind and heart seek God through reflection, especially on the mysteries of Christ, leading to acts of love and resolutions.
instructions
Set aside a fixed time daily. Place yourself in God's presence and ask for his help. Take a scene from the Gospel or a truth of the faith, consider it slowly, and let it move the heart to affections — adoration, sorrow, thanksgiving, love — and to a practical resolution. Conclude with thanksgiving and a chosen 'spiritual bouquet' to carry through the day. St. Teresa of Ávila and St. Francis de Sales are sure guides in this prayer.
