Praying the Stations of the Cross
Way of the Cross · Franciscan tradition
A devotion that accompanies Jesus along the Way of the Cross through fourteen stations, from his condemnation to his burial, meditating on his redemptive Passion.
Instructions
Move from station to station (in a church or with a booklet), pausing at each to pray, 'We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world,' and to meditate briefly on that moment of the Passion. The devotion is especially fitting on the Fridays of Lent and on Good Friday. Many conclude with a fifteenth station, the Resurrection, and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father.
