A short private devotion approved by Pope St. Pius X on 30 May 1911. It is made up of a medal of the Blessed Sacrament and thirty-three beads recalling the years of Christ's earthly life. It is well suited to a visit to the tabernacle or to a period of adoration, and it is a devotional exercise rather than any part of the Church's liturgy.

Begin at the medal with an act of spiritual communion: 'As I cannot now receive Thee, my Jesus, in Holy Communion, come spiritually into my heart.' Then on each of the thirty-three beads pray: 'Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament on the altar, have mercy on us.' Pray it slowly before the tabernacle or the exposed Sacrament, letting each bead stand for a year of the Lord's hidden and public life given for us.
